Ma, Jun 

Dr. Jun Ma (8009) has been on the Board of Directors of Vasomedical, Inc. since 2007 and has been its President and Chief Executive Officer since 2008.  With Vasomedical, he has transformed the company from a single-device business into an international entity with multiple product lines and multiple business units, including operations in design, manufacturing and sales of proprietary medical devices; sales representation of diagnostic imaging products; healthcare IT products and managed product network services; etc.

Previously, Dr. Ma held various academic, consulting and executive positions.  He possesses extensive experience across industries such as automotive, aerospace, biomedical, manufacturing and medical devices, both domestically and internationally. He has also been involved in many business transactions in China, including M&A, joint venture and contract manufacturing.

Dr. Ma holds a BS degree in Precision Machinery and Instrumentation from the University of Science and Technology of China and a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University.

Pan, Meiqing (David)

Mr. Pan (8009) is an experienced life insurance actuary. He currently works for AIG as a model validation officer, responsible for the model risk management with respect to the company’s life and annuity business. Prior to AIG, Mr. Pan worked for Prudential Financial for four years and MetLife for 12 years, including two years in United MetLife in Shanghai (MetLife’s joint venture insurance company in China). Mr. Pan holds a master’s degree in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from State University of New York at Stony Brook, a bachelor’s degree from Department of Precision Machinery, University of Science and Technology of China.  Mr. Pan is a Fellow, Society of Actuaries, and a Member of American Academy of Actuaries.

Yan, Xiaodong

Xiaodong Yan (8002 和 8010管理班) is the Founder and CEO of DIA Associates. Mr. Yan has developed a unique approach to help business grow through the integration of strategy and analytics. He has advised Fortune 100 clients in financial services, telecom, insurance and other industries for almost 20 years.  Prior to founding DIA Associates, he was the Head of the Growth Analytics Practice and the Managing Director at Opera Solutions, Co-Founder and Partner of Inductis, Engagement Manager and Founding Member of the Pricing and Product Design Practice at the Mitchell Madison Group, and Staff Manager at AT&T/Bell Labs. Mr. Yan pursued his PhD in Economics and Game Theory at SUNY Stony Brook. He holds an MA in Economics from SUNY Stony Brook, an MS in Computer Science from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a BS in Management Sciences with a minor in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China.

Zhang, Yingchao

Dr. Yingchao Zhang (8102) was elected to the Board of Education for the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District last November, becoming one of the few USTC alumna who get deeply involved in the American democratic political systems.  His continued contribution to the local communities over the past ten years, and his passion in music making have made him one of the well recognized Chinese American community leaders in New Jersey.  He is a technologist in the IT networking industry,   currently taking the leadership responsibility of sales engineering for NetScout Systems in New York Metro region.  Dr. Zhang got his PhD in nuclear physics from SUNY Stony Brook in 1996.  He then went to Columbia University for postdoc research, before switching to the IT industry.  He got his B.S. in 1986, majored in low temperature physics.

Shen, Hao

Mr. Hao Shen(8307), studied in the Department of Geophysics at USTC during 1983 to 1988.
In 1998, Mr. Shen founded the Beijing Bofei Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. Two major business segments were provided in Bofei Electronics: railway electronic equipment, and being as sales agent for projectors.
Besides, Princeton Bofei Inc. was founded by Mr. Shen. The company specializes in consumer electronics, focusing on cross-border e-commerce which focus on sales and services of home electronics, outdoor products and beauty products; etc. It has branches located in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hefei, and one branch in Cranbury, NJ. Yang, Jingshuang (Jack) 

Dr. Jack Yang(86少)  is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse Global Markets, a Switzerland-based multinational investment bank in New York City.   Dr. Yang is a member of the bank’s extended IT Management Committee, a member of the IT Americas Management Committee, and a member of the Risk Technology Management Committee.  Dr. Yang is also the co-founder and co-Chair of Asian Professional Network, one of the three major diversity and inclusion networks at Credit Suisse.   APN promotes Asian culture awareness and further the firm’s diversity initiatives by cultivating and empowering the Asian professionals through professional development, community service and networking. Prior to joining Credit Suisse in 2012, Dr. Yang was a Managing Director at UBS and a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, with a total of 15 years of experience in Financial Services information technology.Dr. Yang received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University, M.S. in Computer Science from Loyola University of Chicago and B.S in Computer Science from University of Science and Technology of China.

Gao, Renyuan

Dr. Renyuan Gao (9002) is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Westfield Investment, a global credit hedge fund in New Jersey. Westfield Investment was named by Institutional Investor magazine as a finalist for the 2017 Emerging Hedge Fund Manager award. Before founding Westfield Investment in 2015, Renyuan was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs’ Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodities (FICC) division in New York, where he was responsible for trading strategies for various credit products including cash bonds, derivatives, securitized products, and loans. Prior to starting his career in finance in 2006 at Goldman Sachs, Renyuan was a mathematician at a software company and a founding member at a tech startup, where he was an inventor of 16 US patents.

He received a B.S. Degree from USTC (1995), a M.S. and a Ph.D Degree (1999) from University of Pennsylvania, all in Physics. Renyuan Gao has an extensive record of dedicated service to the USTC Alumni Association in Greater New York: Panel Speaker of 2014 and 2017 USTC Summit and guest of Mentoring and Networking Program (multiple times). Renyuan lives in Westfield, New Jersey with his wife and three children. He is a certified swim judge for the Westfield YMCA swim team and a member of the Westfield Tennis Club.

Xiong, Hui

Dr. Hui Xiong (9010) is currently a Professor and the Director of Rutgers Center for Information Assurance at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. His general area of research is data mining,with a focus on developing effective and efficient data analysis techniques for emerging data intensive applications. He has published prolifically in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is the co-Editor-in-Chief of Encyclopedia of GIS by Springer, and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE) as well as the Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS) journal. He has served regularly on the organization and program committees of numerous conferences. Dr. Xiong received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota (UMN) in 2005, a BE in Automation from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and an MS in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Peng, Lin

Lin Peng (9108) is the Krell Chair Professor in Finance at Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, City University of New York. Professor Peng has taught investment analysis, fixed income analysis, market microstructure, and financial market frictions at the undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral levels. Her diverse research interest covers the area of asset pricing, behavioral finance, market microstructure, and corporate governance. Her research has been published in leading economics and finance journals, with her work on executive compensation published as a lead article by Journal of Finance. Prof. Peng has presented her papers at numerous conferences and academic institutions, won recognition awards for research and teaching excellence. She is a recipient of many research grants, and her work has been featured by media outlets such as Reuters and Institutional Investor. She is an editorial board member of the Financial Management Association Survey and Synthesis Series. Professor Peng holds a M.S from Wesleyan University and a Ph.D. in Finance from Duke University.

Yu, Tianning (Tina)

Dr. Tianning Yu (9308) is a Managing Partner of YuanMing Capital, a healthcare fund focusing on cross-border investment strategies. She led the investment in BeiGene, Ascentage Pharma and Mevion Medical Systems, etc. Dr. Yu has more than fifteen years of professional experience working in the life sciences sector and the financing world of the healthcare industry. Prior to that, Dr. Yu worked for Vision Capital, a NYC-based investment management firm, as a Director of Investment, responsible for US biotech and China sectors. She was a senior research scientist at Wyeth BioPharma, developing the rapeuticproteins. She worked for Fidelity, Morgan Stanley and Genzyme. Dr. Yu founded Matching Capital Partners to provide cross-border consulting services in thelife sciences industry.

Dr. Yu earned her PhD in Chemistry from Princeton University, an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is a graduate of University of Science and Technology of China with a B.S. in Biology. Tianning Yu has served to the USTC Alumni Association in Greater New York. She was the Co-Chair and Panel Moderator of 2017 UTSC Life Sciences Symposium. She also served as the advisor of USTC Mentoring and Networking Program.
